Description
The architects behind the student housing expansion at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) were looking for fresh new materials and patterns to enliven the public spaces of a new 14 story student housing tower at their Savannah campus. They were looking for materials to add warmth and contrast to the precast concrete, steel and glass of the structure.”The rich, dark and modelled colors and textures of the durapalm provided just the contract we were looking for”, said Trang Vu, Associate Designer with the SCAD Design Group. The plan was to use the durapalm panels in elevator cabs, lobbies and accent walls. Vu noted that the neutral back-note of the deco palm panels created a wonderful palette for the vibrant artwork, furniture, and accessories featured in all the SCAD interiors.
