We offer out palm lumber in both Borassus Flabellifer (Palmyra) and Cocos Nucifera (Coconut palm). These two species have a similar grain pattern, density and hardness. Palmyra tends to be on the darker scale much like a dark coffee or chocolate tone. The Cocos tends more towards a medium to dark mahogany tone. Based on what part of the palm stem the lumber is harvested from the grain can range from burly near the base to more linear look further up the stalk.
Palm lumber is provided rough sawn and air dried. For this reason you will want to season and finish mill it before working the material. Lumber dimensions include thicknesses of 1”, 1.25”, 1.5” and 1.75”. Widths come in 3”, 3.5” or 4” and lengths can vary from 6” to 97”. Lumber is sold by the linear foot based on thickness and length.
